This is a story about two love stories that parallel each other in the period of partition between India and Pakistan. Puro is the star of her father’s eye , was an extremely compassionate and generous individual. Her younger brother was her favorite, Trilok and made sure that he was always content. Both were set to be married Ramcharan and Simran respectively. They were also siblings, and lived together in the same house with their Biji. Puro and Trilok together with their parents travel to the village of their parents to commemorate Lohri and to begin wedding planning. Puro and Ramcharan were respectfully distanced from one another and shared an admiration for one another, while Trilok and Simran were not starting off with a positive note and had frequent fights. It seemed like everything was going along at a steady rate until the day a small Muslim boy named Rashid came into the house and abducted Puro in revenge for the harm that her family members did to her family many years back. Puro’s father pleaded with Rashid as well as his mother to free Puro but without success. To preserve the respectability of both family members, they decide to hold the wedding ceremony of Trilok along with Simran and Ramcharan along with Puro’s cousin Rajjo. Trilok is not aware of the Puro’s disappearance as he is on his way to Delhi for work. So they decide to keep the truth from being revealed and cover the story using a lie in order to pass at the wedding. While they are at it, Puro is able to escape from the house of Rashid and returns to the place the home of her family in shock to discover the wedding ceremonies taking place just before her.
